About the Mosaic Program
Mosaic is CISV’s local community-based programme for participants of all ages. A Mosaic can be anything from a one-off event to a year-long project.
Mosaic projects are planned and delivered by our Chapters, using CISV’s educational approach, and each one responds to local needs and interests in a meaningful way. Most projects are designed and run in cooperation with partner organizations to further the benefit to the local community.
Being part of a Mosaic project is a real-life learning experience that will have a lasting impact and, if you’re new to CISV, it’s a great way to get involved!
This year, the Dallas – Fort Worth Chapter is working with Feed My Starving Children.
Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) is a non-profit organization that mobilizes volunteers to hand-pack specially formulated, nutritious meals to combat childhood hunger worldwide. These meals, which contain rice, soy, vegetables, and vitamins, are then shipped to a global network of partner organizations that distribute them to children in need through schools, orphanages, and clinics. The organization’s focus is on the humanitarian effort of feeding hungry children, with a high percentage of donations directly funding meal production.
-
- Meal packing: Volunteers of all ages hand-pack meals at FMSC sites and mobile packing events.
- Meal composition: The meals are designed to be nutritionally complete and include ingredients like rice, soy, dried vegetables, and a blend of vitamins and minerals.
- Distribution network: FMSC ships the pre-packed meals to humanitarian partners in approximately 70 countries, who then deliver them to vulnerable children through established programs.
- Impact: The organization reports a high success rate, with 99.8% of meals reaching their intended destination.
- Funding: Over 90% of donations go directly to feeding children, with the cost per meal being very low.
